Simple But Reliable Process

In thermal tempering process, there are a lot of factors affecting temper glass quality. They are glass thickness, glass loading efficiency, heating temperature, heating time, blower pressure, blower quantity, air nozzle design, rollers quality and moving mechanism, etc. Optimum parameters are only obtained when all factors match and compromise to each other. In chemical strengthening process, the only parameters are salt concentration, heating temperature and ion exchanging time regardless of glass thickness.

Any Glass Composition

Most of glass chemical composition can be chemically strengthened as long as there is a certain content of alkali oxides. Chemically strengthening process is applicable with many choices glass compositions.

Na+ K+ Mg+ Li+

High Production Capacity

Chemical ion exchange reaction takes place rapidly when glass contains "active" alkali ions. For example, chemical strengthening process of glass with compositions of lithium, magnesium and aluminum, etc are faster than ordinary sodalime glass because Li+, Mg+ and Al+ migrate faster than Na+ ions. When proper glass composition is selected, production capacity is greatly increased.

High Production Yield

There is not much human adjustment for chemical strengthening glass production. All of the process is done by chemical ion exchange reaction which is carried out automatically. Human error is minimized and so there is less defect resulting in high production yield.

Operating Friendly

Operator is just required to load and unload glass, refill of potassium salt and other ingredients regularly. All other jobs are left for ions. Chemical reaction is always carried out automatically. When glass thickness is changed, it is no need to change production parameters for chemical strengthening process. Thermal tempering process requires different parameters vary to glass thickness. Glass chemical process requires lesser adjustments than heat tempering process during production.

Low Operating Cost

The only consumables are low cost potassium salt and little amount of chemical catalyst. Potassium salt is available almost everywhere. Xinology provides chemical catalyst at reasonable price. Heating temperature is low and does not consume too much electricity. Thermal glass tempering process requires high temperature and big blower pressure and air quantity. They consume a lot of power.

Low Maintenance Cost

Glass chemically strengthening furnace does not run at glass softening temperature. There are no deteriorated components replacements due to high temperature. Chemical strengthening glass production equipment has lesser moving mechanism and they are all simple. There are a lot of high precision mechanical and electrical parts and components in a physically thermal tempering furnace. Costly maintenance and labour force are required. Expansive ceramic rollers are replaced regularly.

No Noise Pollution

Production of chemically strengthened glass does not create any noise. The chemical reaction is carried out silently. Physical thermal tempering process is very noisy during air quenching especially when it is thin glass.

Environmental Friendly

Ion exchanging is taken place with temperature far below glass softening point. The chemical tank does not irradiate too much heat in workshop. Thermal tempering process requires to heat glass to its softening point. It generates a great deal of heat irradiating to workshop.

Occupy Space

Thermal tempering furnace requires a large blower room. Chemical strengthen glass production equipment is a double deck design occupying less space. Pre-heating oven is installed in upper storey. No extra floor space is required.
