Small Thin Glass Edging & Polishing Machine

Features

Introduction

Innovative Design Of G-STGD Suitable To Edge & Polish Glass Micro-Slides for Biotech & Medical Purposes

This machine is unique and is specially designed to grind and polish edges of small and thin glass which is unable to be edged by ordinary straight edging machine. The machine consists of a sturdy metal structure with a rotating platform, a spindle motor with grinding wheel, water circulation system with pump and tank.

Operation

Each Slot Holds Few Pieces of Small Thin Glass Firmly During Grinding

1. A jig and fixture is required. There are many slots on it. A stack of glass with several pieces of small thin glass is put inside each of the slot. Total thickness of each glass stack should be similar to the thickness of each slot such that the glass stack is fixed and does not move inside the slot. Another glass stack is put inside another slot until all the slots are fully loaded with glass stack.

Glass Is Edged or Polished With Just One Rotation

2. When it is ready, the jig and fixture is put on the rotating platform and is then fixed by clamp or screw.

Operator Just Required To Lower Spindel & Grinding Or Polishing Wheel Against Glass

3. Water pump is started and water is sprayed onto the glass stack for cooling during grinding. Motor is started. Operator pulls down the handle so that the grinding wheel goes down approaching to the glass stack until it gets in contact with the edges. Then grinding is begun. After one platform rotation, all the glass is edged.

4. If a fine and stain edge is required, grinding wheel is replaced with polishing wheel. Glass is then polished during second rotation of platform.

5. When ready, jig and fixture is unloaded and the glass stacks are removed from jig and fixture and are loaded again with another edges facing upwards. Then grinding is started for second edges. The cycle is repeated until all edges are grind.

6. First batch of glass is removed from jig and fixture. Another batch of glass stack is loaded and the cycle is repeated.

7. If corner grinding is required, another jig and fixture is prepared with the slots well made such that the glass stack can be hold firmly inside the slot with 45 degree tilted.

8. If high production is required, more jigs and fixtures are prepared. After one jig and fixture is edged, another jig and fixture with glass stacks ready could be loaded right away so that the machine could continue to edge. This increases productivity and minimize downtime.
