Instructions

UV Glues are Easily Applied & Cured by UV Lamps

UV

UV stands for ultra violet. UV wavelength is between 10 ~ 400 nm. UV is classified into UVA and UVB. UVA is from 280~320nm. UVB is from 320~400nm. UV glue is usually cured at 365 nm of UVA.

UV Source

Low power rating, less than 1 KW, of UV light source is popular for glass bonding. It is medium pressure mercury lamp. Both tube and bulb are available. High pressure mercury 1 KW lamp is usually used for high volume production line. UV lamp usually lasts for 1000 hrs. UV intensity turns weaker as times goes by. Replacement is required when necessary.

UV Exposure Time

Curing is usually determined by UV light intensity and exposure time. The first few seconds is pre-cured. It is the time to have the objects to be glued fixed in positions. Another 60~120 seconds are for final curing. Further exposure is not necessary. Unnecessary prolong exposure may lead to aging.

Application Procedures

  • Surfaces to be glued must be cleaned, de-greased and dried.
  • Apply adequate amount of UV glue on surfaces to be glued.
  • When both surfaces are in direct contact with each other, ensure glue evenly distributed throughout surfaces. Evacuate air bubbles, if any, instantly until all surfaces are covered with glue. If excess glue is not allowed, screen printing or gluing tool may be required, if necessary, to apply precise glue amount.
  • Make sure glue surfaces are under UV exposure. UV lamp should be as closed as possible to gluing objects. A distance of 45 cm is required when using 1 KW of UV lamp or above.
  • Before objects are pre-cured, do not move the objects under UV lamp. Jigs and fixtures are required if necessary.
  • Tint glass may affect gluing result. This is because glass color may absorb or cut certain UV wavelengths. The absorb wavelengths do not arrive at the glue. Trial and test is required to find out proper glue.

Caution

UV glue is slightly irritated to human body. Flush with large amounts of soap water when contact with skin. Flush with large amounts of water when contact with eyes. Get medical attention immediately if necessary.

Storage

  • Keep at 10℃ ~ 30℃ in dry & ventilated room
  • Avoid from direct exposure of sunlight & UV
