Glass Lid Bending / Tempering Furnace
INTRODUCTION

Glass lid is extensively used in kitchenware.

A piece of glass lid is made of two parts, glass and the stainless steel around the glass edge. The production procedure is described as follow.

Glass
Large sheet of glass is cut into long glass strip either by manual or by machine. Glass strip is cut into round shape. The edge is grind. Holes are drilled. Then the glass is washed thoroughly. It is then bent and tempered.

Stainless steel
Strip of stainless steel comes in roll form. It is cut into the length according to the perimeter of the round glass. Then it is welded. It is then edge rolled, widened and pressed into requested profile.

Glass and stainless steel
The stainless steel profile is then inlay onto the glass edge firmly. A rivet is put inside the steam exhaust hole. Finally it is packed.

Machine, jig and fixture

A series of special machine and jig and fixture are required. Most of the customers would be more concern about the bending and tempering which is the critical part of the whole process and the process of the stainless steel strip is always ignored. Stainless steel plays a very important role in the making of top quality glass lid.

All the stainless steel processing machines must be designed and built specially for the purpose of making top quality stainless steel profile which is suitable for the inlaying onto the glass lid edge. Sophisticated jig and fixture are also designed and made so that the right shape of stainless steel profile is done in second.

If the machine and jig and fixture are not designed and built properly, it may lead to following disadvantages,

1. stainless steel profile shape is incorrect.
2. operator would find it difficult to load and unload the stainless steel.
3. cycle time becomes longer.
4. processing would not be done in the right way and thus, defect.
5. operator may easily get wound.
6. stainless steel profile may not easily be fit around the glass edge.
7. stainless steel profile may not hold firmly around the glass edge.
